Tucked into the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains lies the Inn at Little Washington, a colonial-style country haven, where owners Patrick O'Connell and Reinhardt Lynch have left no charming detail overlooked. Located in Virginia, the nine rooms and three suites are furnished with treasures garnered from the owners’ European travels. The penthouse suites feature marble bathrooms with jetted tubs and balconies overlooking the forested hills. More precious than the Inn are the restaurant's culinary delights, which have won Chef Patrick O'Connell countless culinary awards. Impeccable service and delectable dishes have made the Inn a favorite with people such as Barbara Streisand, Paul Newman, former president George Bush and Alan Greenspan, who even held his wedding here. The menu changes seasonally, and patrons should keep fingers crossed that the seafood risotto, tuna topped with foie gras or lamb carpaccio are available.  If you stay here, you will also have an opportunity to meet the two resident Dalmations sporting pearl necklaces.

Inn Rates: $250 to $640  per night
Dining: Fixed price menu, $78 to $98 (does not include wine, tax or tip)
